James Fairfield House

The home was built in 1813 on land gifted to James Fairfield and his bride Lois Walker, the daughter of Captain Walker. Shortly after the home was completed, James invited his brother-in-law Joseph Lord (also a sea captain) and Lord’s wife Polly to live in the home.

James Fairfield House is artful and eclectic. All 9 rooms feature a working fireplace, a bold and bright color palette, modern upholstered furnishings, original abstract paintings from a local Maine artist, and rich natural textures throughout. The house is a classic example of early Federal period architecture; its plank pine floors and original moulding add to this building’s historic interest.
